Foreshadowing from a Fortune Cookie

By Neil, January 12, 2000 11:00 PM

It’s been a good day, but a long one. A fortune cookie told me of some interesting changes about to take place in my life. I can see that it may be correct. Very good news caressed my ears this afternoon. More on that when the time is right.

Congratulations to my niece, Jennifer, who gave birth to a baby girl last night! Also, congratulations to my sister! She’s a granny 5 or 6 times over now!

Jon and Carrie visited tonight. Neesie and I enjoyed their company at Chi Chi’s this evening. Topic of discussion: pet behavior and doggy drool. Might I add that this was not particularly pleasurable to Carrie, as it seems that the Devil Bug has moved in on her again.

‘Caught in the Storm’ was my subject this evening. I’ve not figured out how to get this track to clean up. I ran it through my normal techniques to get the levels up to par, but parts of it are coming out distorted and such. So, it has become my guinea pig. However, I’m tired and need rest. I will return to this debacle if I have time tomorrow night after my chores.

Food on the Mind, Part 1

By Neil, January 10, 2000 11:51 AM

Home for lunch. Neesie says that she feels a little better, but has decided to stay home from work. It seems the Devil Bug liked the accommodations after all.

For me, it’s back to work! My morning has felt aimless. However, I think that most people feel that way after being away from work for a week. This afternoon should be a lot more productive now that I have paperwork in order and ready to be ‘handled.’

Lazy Morning/Active Evening

By Neil, January 9, 2000 9:53 PM

I was not out of bed until 11:03a this morning. A late morning caused by a late night getting the web site updated. Well, at least updated to the point where it could be uploaded. There are still many things to do. Just like housework, the job is never done.

Most of the ‘morning’ was spent being lazy. Neesie has discovered a new way to kill time…Super Mario 64. At the same time, I’ve discovered a new way to kill time…watching her play Super Mario 64. It scares me that I would consider this cool, but the graphics in the game where made in such a way that it is entertaining just to watch her play the game. On second thought, maybe I should get out more.

This evening, we ran errands and stopped by one of our favorite steak places for dinner. We filled our tummies heartily thanks to our Christmas gift from Jon. We missed dessert, but we left feeling more than satisfied.

Before returning to YL Habitat, Neesie and I needed to pick up some supplies for our new ‘handy dandy’ dehydrator in order to create luscious snacks. After a couple of minutes wandering around looking for Pectin, I decided to ask if the store carried it. A worker walked me back to the ‘canning supplies’ area that was so strategically placed right above the ‘insect repellant/killer’ supplies. Once the Pectin was found, I headed back to find Neesie, but found Corey Miller and his girlfriend, Amy, instead. They were out on their evening meal hunt. Neesie caught up with me and pointed out a hunk of cheese shaped like a duck. I promptly held it up and suggested to Corey that it may make a wonderful meal! This was the first I had seen him since I delivered his Christmas goodies to him last month.

Back home, I did my evening chores while Neesie did hers. Sleve had an exciting new experience this evening. The world must have been excessively cold for him after his bath, so Neesie, in her infinite wisdom, decided to blow dry him. He reminded me of a cartoon of the Pink Panther coming out of a dryer. Neesie reported that he tried to attack the blow dryer. That must have been a sight.

Neesie and I will be travelling to Nashville, TN this weekend. Robert Fripp, guitarist of King Crimson and Soundscape artist, has decided to ‘meet and greet’ to answer questions regarding the new King Crimson recording that he just finished with his bandmates. I was hoping to have Jim Gould travel with us, but he informed me this evening that he will not be road tripping with us.

Hurray! Back to work tomorrow since the Devil Bug has moved. Neesie has not complained much today. Maybe the Devil Bug didn’t settle in on her as it did with me.

Moving Into the New Millennium

By Neil, January 8, 2000 7:50 PM

My first week of this new year was spent fighting off a Devil Bug that decided to take residence in my stomach. It managed to keep me home from work 3 1/2 days while it forced out whatever I tried to feed it. Not a pleasant tenant, I assure you. It seems that I was successful at eviction. Unfortunately, it seems to have found a new home in Neesie.

C. Sleve the Mischievous had his first doctors visit. Neesie reports that he did well during his shot. He seemed to have when we returned to the car. The Beetle has never gotten such a thorough going-over. He looked at me several times as if to say, “This cage is much bigger than the one I have, and it even has wheels!”

Work on the archiving of Project One rehearsal tapes is halfway finished. I hope to have CD-R copies freshly fried and in the hands of my co-writers by the end January. One would think that I would learn that this sort of task is not an overnight job. Especially since it took Corey and me two years to compile and finish CINEMAtography. However, I’m not taking as much care in the archiving. These discs are not intended for general release. They will be used for writing purposes only. With that said, I do reserve the right to change my opinion about the various improvs that were done. MP3 would be a good medium for those.

Other than archiving my past, I’ve been working on album artwork for a local band called Slow Moving Humans. They have been very patient with me with this. As soon as I can get a couple good photos taken, I should have a finished package for them.
